We will be running 6 teams in spring 2027, one for each of the following birth years:
Tryout dates vary by birth year. We will be holding tryouts of 2015, 2016 and 2017 on September 30 and tryouts for 2018, 2019 and 2019 Female on October 23. Please refer to the registration page for your player's specific tryout date and time.

Be sure to select the tryout for your player’s birth year and the corresponding registration fee (based on position).
Each player will participate in two one-hour on-ice sessions, with a 15-minute break between sessions.
Players born in 2015, 2016 and 2017 need to register based on the position they are trying out for.
Tryouts for players born in 2018 and 2019 will not be position-specific (with the exception of goalies).
Players are evaluated throughout both sessions by our coaching staff using consistent evaluation criteria focused on skating, skill, compete level, hockey sense, and overall potential within the Ice Raiders program.
Players must have played U11 Rep or U9/U7 Major in the 2025/2026 season in order to tryout for the Ice Raiders program.
Yes. Players should attend the full tryout. Evaluations take place throughout both sessions, and missing part of the tryout may affect the evaluation process.
Tryout registration fees are refundable until 2 weeks prior to the tryout date. Please email admin@vancityiceraidershockey.com if you are not planning to attend.
Players selected to the Ice Raiders will receive a roster offer within a week of their tryout date. Registration instructions and payment details will be included with the offer.
Families will receive an invitation to join the team via email. Registration and non- refundable deposit will be required within 48 hours of receiving the invitation to confirm your player's spot.
Players who are not selected for the Ice Raiders program will receive an individual evaluation report. This will be sent via email within 3-4 weeks of the tryout date.
The VanCity Ice Raiders spring program includes:
Players: $2,250+tax
Goaltenders*: $1,000+tax
*6 goalie specific training sessions will be held throughout the season
In addition, families should budget approximately $400-$500 for the required uniform and apparel package.
Yes, we will be offering a payment plan option to split the cost of the season into 3 installments.
No, there will be no additional team fees collected for the 2027 season.
The package will include team jerseys, pant shells, socks, and Ice Raiders apparel. Details will be provided a few months before the season begins.
Yes. Fees includes entry into two local tournaments.
The spring season runs from approximately late March through June. A detailed schedule will be provided after ice allocations are received (typically not until February).
Practices are held at Richmond Ice Centre, exceptions may apply based on ice availability.
Ice times will vary, however players can expect to have a minimum of one before school practice per week (typically 6-7am).
The Ice Raiders program is designed for players who are committed to their development. Players are expected to attend practices, games, and tournaments whenever possible and, if selected, the Ice Raiders team will be their priority spring hockey commitment.
